RESEARCH

When not providing ecological consultancy and training services, at Flight Ecology we try to help to increase the knowledge of UK bats through various citizen science projects.

During the 2016-17 seasons, Rich Flight led a research project to find out whether the Cumbrian bats could be found at the higher altitudes of the Lake District mountains. This was more recently written up as an article for the British Island Bats journal.

As ecologists, we regularly recommend bat boxes as mitigation for development projects. But what do we actually know about their success rate?

Flight Ecology have been undertaking a pilot project to investigate the relative success of different bat boxes, in particular, those which are used by colonies of bats.
